With two outs, junior shortstop Janae Jefferson crushed a solo home run to center field, giving Texas an early 1-0 lead. However, the Red Raiders were quick to respond, tying the game in the top of the third inning with a run of their own.

The game headed into extra innings, with both teams refusing to give up. In the top of the ninth inning, Texas Tech's Zoe Juarez hit a solo home run to put the Red Raiders up 3-2. But the Longhorns were not about to let their chances slip away, and they responded with a walk-off home run from Miranda Elish in the bottom of the ninth inning, securing a thrilling 4-3 victory.
